What happens to your social media accounts when you die?

It’s not something that you don’t want to think about, but after YouGov posted the question it got us thinking.

Your social media is full of pictures, messages and memories so they can be very valuable to relatives and friends once you pass away. So what should happen to them? Here is the data that YouGov collected and it is actually quite surprising.

Social media after death

The opinion is largely split between two versions of them being taken offline forever with 26% wanting content to be taken off before getting deleted and 25% wanting them to be deleted immediately after death.  It looks like the older you get the more brutal you get too, 34% of 18-24 would want social content to be passed down where as only 15% of 65+ chose this option they favoured the accounts to be deleted immediately with 34% selecting that option.

We love to see data behind social and this is a very interesting topic, what would you like to happen to your social accounts?
